Here's an idea, Jocelyn, I think if you are arriving early enough to enjoy spending the evening in the so-called old town, you could stay at Hotel Casiev, at the top of Basilio Badillo. It's inexpensive, clean, secure, etc., and then you can probably catch an early bus from the corner of Aguacate and Carranza, just a few blocks away... it's a smaller bus terminal, and most of the buses going south stop there. Does anyone else have more info about this option?
