If you have the prescription from your doctor, it is very easy in Mexico to buy the drugs you need. You can go to any pharmacia show them your prescription and they will fill it for you. But, a more cheaply way, is to go to a "generic Pharmacia". There is one in La Manzanilla and several in Melaque. The pharmacia ran by Dr. Martha. also sells generic drugs. Here is an example I saw last week: the alopurinol I take for gout was over 700 pesos for the name brand. I bought a generic alopurinol from Dr. Martha for 70 pesos. The other generic pharmacia in town sells it for 60 pesos. If you need Tylenol, Dr. Martha sells it for 50 pesos, the other pharmacia does not carry it, and Lydia's food store sells it for 47 pesos, altho a label carries the mention: maximum authorized price to the public is 39.50 pesos. Lydia says that the 39.50 is the price she pays, and she charges more because she has to make a profit!!!!! When I go next to Melaque, I will check the price of Tylenol. Caveat Emptor!!!
