Live trapping is the standard removal technique. They are opportunistic feeders so most bait options work for the trap. Not that you would ever try it, but poison is a really bad idea. They can die in very hard to remove places, stink, and draw flies. Be careful with your pets. There are lots of sharp teeth on that critter and they do not like to be cornered. The playing dead thing is mostly mythology. They can be quite aggressive when protecting young. Look for a nest nearby. They are opportunistic nesters so look about anywhere a nest might be dry and protected. They don't live long - a couple of years at most, but make lots of babies. The good news is they usually travel solo except when hooking up for tlacuache sexy-time. BTW, I think the tlacuache cuatro ojos is kind of cute. I see those guys in Nicaragua and Ecuador.
