If you have the prescription from your doctor, it is very easy in Mexico to buy the drugs you need. You can go to any pharmacia show them your prescription and they will fill it for you. But, a more cheaply way, is to go to a "generic Pharmacia". There is one in La Manzanilla and several in Melaque. The pharmacia ran by Dr. Martha. also sells generic drugs. Here is an example I saw last week: the alopurinol I take for gout was over 700 pesos for the name brand. I bought a generic alopurinol from Dr. Martha for 70 pesos. The other generic pharmacia in town sells it for 60 pesos. If you need Tylenol, Dr. Martha sells it for 50 pesos, the other pharmacia does not carry it, and Lydia's food store sells it for 47 pesos, altho a label carries the mention: maximum authorized price to the public is 39.50 pesos. Lydia says that the 39.50 is the price she pays, and she charges more because she has to make a profit!!!!! When I go next to Melaque, I will check the price of Tylenol. Caveat Emptor!!!

Tylenol at Dr. Martha was 50 pesos. No price label on the box, other that Dr. Martha's. I went to Melaque to day, but I forgot to check the prices there.

Went to check out the new Pharmacia today on Lazaro Cardenas (by the beach). The young girl working there said the doctor is in only at 6pm. She did not know which days though, nor did she know a price for consultation. Something that bothered me though, is the store faces south and the hot sun was burning through the glass cases onto the medications behind it. The sun beat heavy onto the displays of meds on the walls too. Alot of meds break down in extreme heat. so there!

When you've really had enough, there's `Quitadol'. Available at local pharmacies

A quick Google of Quitadol brings up mostly Spanish results. Mostly used in Mexico?

It's paracetamol, another name for acetaminophen, the generic name for Tylenol. But the name sounds like English doesn't it!
