pescado is a fish that is already caught, as in those that are dead in your boat. A live fish is a pez.

FAR OUT, DANIEL We remember the old plain Pez dispensers from the 50's and the 'delicious' candy full of sugar and chemicals. Even then it didn't really seem to taste like something good to eat. We thought this was a joke until the sober end.
