GREAT BEER

a week ago I came across beer from a new brewery in Colima, the kind of wonderful beer we got so used to in the Pacific NW and BC from our many cottage breweries.
Today Maggie and Lupi took me to an new establishment they are used to from Monterrey
Café du Calcetin and low and behold, they carry this beer, all 3 types from Cervereria Colimita.
There is a fullbodied Lager, an IPA and a super rich Porter - to my taste the best beers in mexico. the name of that café place needs a bit of explanation: the original concept from Monterrey is to run the hot water through the café grinds held in a sock ! sort of a version of the Melita Drip Filter system and the owner, Roberto assured me though that the socks were not worn by anyone prior to using them as drip filter. Their food is different from the typical local stuff too, has a gourmet quality to it.

I'm still a fan of supporting local economy while drinking a superior brew.

Roberto, the owner, speaks english and french; He used to work as a photographer for the Agence France Presse who sent him to the war zones (Libya, Afghanistan, Algeria etc. ) His coffee is as good as his beer.

I travel with two growlers, a Brewsuit and a Hydroflask. The Brewsuit is nice because you can secure the camlock stopper with a zip-tie, making it super-legal when driving. The Hydroflask is nice because it is insulated and keeps your beer nice and cold. But the key question I have is: does Cafe du Calcetin have sufficient supply to fill growlers?
