The tourists are just that tourists...........not that important. The natural flow of the laguna more important. You do not have to come back.

les touristes sont juste des touristes. pas tellement importants apres tout Le cours naturel de la lagune beaucoup plus importantNe vous sentez pas obliges de revenir..

Ouch. Spoken for yourself only Charley. A lot of people live the rest of
the year off what they make during this time of year.

Charley, your comments are short sighted and you have no clue as to the reasons why? I good folks of LM take the tourist trade very seriously and when it comes to land being flooded and fact that the crocks have run out of land in their area due to the level of water, this has resulted in them escaping into the public area which in itself is a threat to the humans and their safety; I think you need to better understand what the cause and effects are.

Further to my last post regarding the regaining of land surface for the crocs; I have it on good authority there is much more to the story,

1. The first letting of the water was to lower the lagoon level to facilitate the construction of a new bridge for safer crossing during the rainy season, they need to sink some new pilings for supports

2. This mornings letting was a breach of the road built yesterday as a result of the water rising and starting to overflow the new roadway and one thing led to another and before it could be stopped, the water was flowing full blast. So Charlie, there is more to the story that people not caring about tourists.

Cheers

I was just answering the post from Jean Gravel:
"It'a fisrt Time, and the last one,no respect for tourist ." what do you think of that?
A tourist does not like a temporary stink...... and says that La Manzanilla does not respect the tourist.what kind of comment is that?
LM do not need that kind of tourist.
Daniel, there is no use to extrapolate my comment onto generality of people making a living from tourists and us temporary or permanent expats.
But after all we are in mexico and the mexicans and permanent residents ought to be the ones who decide what to do with the laguna and all that.
Not to placate a demanding tourist.
and Erin,(I good folks of LM....lol)I might understand a little more than you think,
the ecological , political ,economical ramifications of opening the laguna.
I have lived some of my winters here for 25 years.
in Boca first then past 4 years in LM.
I have read all the posts and opinions RE; the recent opening of the laguna.
interesting one posted by Dave Collins.

Charlie ask the restaurant and all commerce owner ofla manz if the tourist are not important.

Tourist are not only canadian and american people i have seen buses full of mexican people returning to the 200 after seeing and smelling that

I leave here 5 month every year and ihave family coming here for one or two week every year. Ask my sister who is a beach lover and here since 3 days, she paid few thousand dollars to be here for 14 days. Ask my 2 daughter and there 3 and 6 years old kid who arrive here today for 8 days and spent a fortune to be here, if they feel being respected.

Can i realy tell them that the present situation is due to some work to be done on the crocodile park to facilitate the walking in the croc bay. How much money return to la manz from that croc park compare to the restaurant and all commerce. What should i say if they are asking me why these work are done in the more busiest time of the year rather than later

You are surprise they feel not being respect.

5 days interruption .......big deal
A good tourist will make the best of any situation.
A lot of people went swimming 500 m down the beach towards Boca.
Now your daughters and their kids can enjoy the beach and the ocean and spend their money in the restaurants on the beach.
As I said before:
"But after all we are in mexico and the mexicans and permanent residents ought to be the ones who decide what to do with the laguna and when .... and all that."
All of your sister dollars cannot change that.
By the way The busiest time of the year is not now... Stay for Easter..or Xmas when we have 30 buses and more.
Bonnes vacances.
