I can't find anything that says Mexico will share in these extreme tides happening this weekend in France. There is also a solar eclipse in Iceland & Greenland I think on Saturday. So that means the moon is exactly new at that time. Maybe the big tides only peak in a narrow time window, so only for parts of the Atlantic? Except your article from Columbia does mention 70-90cm higher than normal tide on their Pacific coast.
Our local tide chart doesn't seem unusual: http://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Manzanillo-Colima-Mexico/tides/latest
