What's with the overcast cloudiness streaming over us since this afternoon? You can see on the GOES-west IR loop that it is a narrow stream of tropical moisture coming from far to our southwest, passing over us and heading across central Mexico to become severe thunderstorms in Texas: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/epac/flash-avn.html
The TRMM radar satellite shows some showers to our south and southwest, but they are 400 - 600 miles away:http://trmm.gsfc.nasa.gov/trmm_rain/americas/americas_3hrly_zoom.gif
There is very little chance of rain for us tonight according to all my resources, but this is the nearest that I have seen showers for several weeks. I would say we might have a slight chance of occasional sprinkles for the next day or so.
This pattern has been entrenched for several weeks now, but more to the north (Sonora, Sinaloa, etc.)
Pretty unusual for April; normally it's widespread high pressure and dry this time of year. What's next??
