In response to the first paragraph, communication is both the problem (rumors)
and the answer (realizing they are rumors). Hopefully the take away lesson
is to pass along only information which comes from reliable sources and even better
more than one reliable source.
On a bit of a different note (but also related) here is a link to eye witnesses.
In response to the second paragraph your statement about the mood and perspective
of residents of Vallarta is credible and citeable. If one were to pass that information
along it should note that it is from one source just to keep the data pure. If
more reliable sources reinforce your position then one would pass along the information
as coming from several sources. If a lot of reliable sources confirm the same
viewpoint then one could pass along the information with many people as the qualifier.
Eventually one would be able to say that the majority of people feel that way.
Despite the fact that the Internet and cellular communication has been with us for
some time now it would behoove us to remember we are in the process of learning both
the value and the power of this relatively new way of communicating.
