Thanks, Mary Jo, for posting photos and summary of the most recent work accomplished. And thanks to everyone who has been helping out with the initiative--a special thanks to Lew Leibowitz who put in a lot of work on the 40-page Engineers Without Borders application! I applaud Tim and Jim for their progressive and generous offers to help support this initiative. For those interested in helping support the Playa Limpia Initiative, I am providing the options for doing so once again (I have provided the info. in previous "Playa Limpia" threads) in this thread:
The "Playa Limpia Initiative" fund will be used to help cover infrastructure costs of repairing and maintaining the pump station and treatment tank in La Manzanilla, implementing constant water testing and bringing Engineers Without Borders to La Manzanilla asap to help solve our sewage system problem. After all those priorities are achieved, Tierralegre and the Playa Limpia Committee will seek international Blue Flag Certification for our beach (these items can be found at: Blue Flag Certification Page at: http://www.blueflag.org/menu/criteria/beaches. If you are interested in donating to the fund, you have a couple easy options listed below. NOTE: Make sure to earmark all donations for the “Playa Limpia Initiative.”
1. If you´d like to simply make a donation to this cause and are not worried about receiving a tax-deductible donation, then you can personally drop your donation by the Tierralegre office at María Asunción 49-A in front of Lidia´s Mini Market. Please get in touch with me first by e-mail or on my cell: (315) 104-5442, to make arrangements.
2. If you´d like to make a donation within Mexico and receive a Mexico tax-deductible receipt which is honored in Mexico and many other countries, then you can either drop it by the office following the instructions above or you can make a deposit directly to the Tierralegre Banamex account which is set up exclusively for this fund. In this case, the account number is: 8433582; the sucursal is: 7002; and the Clabe Interbancario is: 002385700684335826. Note that in kind donations are also accepted—e.g., water testing equipment, etc. (but check with us first to see if the in kind donation is something we can actually use for the cause).
3. If you'd like to make a US tax-deductible donation please visit our “Friends of Fund” page on the International Community Foundation website—where you will find various options, including paying with a credit card online, for donating—at Tierralegre´s "Friend of Fund" webpage: http://donate.icfdn.org/#npo/tierralegre-a-c
Thank you in advance to all interested in donating for your support with this cause, and special thanks to those of you who have already donated. The fund currently has $13,500 pesos in it after this most recent infrastructure improvement cost.
Any questions, please get in touch with me by e-mail or on my Mexican cell: (315) 104-5442, or my U.S. line: (865-230-7995)
Together as a community we can insure that our beach and the surrounding aquatic ecosystems are clean, safe and sustainable for generations to come!
