Weird Winter Weather

It just dawned on me after, all the postings re water quality and safe swimming beaches, that we wouldn't even be discussing them except for the fact that we've had an unusual, if not historic, wet winter. In the summer, the rains wash out the causeway over the lagoon, the manhole covers seep out sewage and the ocean gets murky and, at times, smelly. But I don't recall anyone complaining because all the above occurred in the offseason. If next winter's weather returns to the normal pattern, with dry days and amazing ocean clarity, I seriously doubt the current handwringing will repeat itself. If, on the other hand, this winter's weather is a harbinger of future winters we should all be rightfully concerned over water quality issues. Personally, I've of the "wait and see" point of view. | ------------------------
