Planting for Monarch butterflies

The April Fools gag and fun "pintrest" project "Knit for Monarchs" has started. People are invited to knit imaginative chrysalises for our shared Mexi/Can butterfly, however the real drive is on to have Canadians continue to plant MILKWEED in yards, playgrounds and parks. Without milkweed, monarchs can't survive as the larvae (caterpillars) of monarch butterflies eat ONLY milkweed. (Adult butterflies consume many different things including nectar, water and liquids from some fruits). http://www.davidsuzuki.org/what-you-can-do/monarch-butterflies-need-your-help/ | ------------------------Re: Planting for Monarch butterflies

everybody loves the monarchs - how can one not ?! and the milk weed thistle is very important BUT they need to be planted in the Midwest, along the Eastern Seaboard, most important in Texas ... so if you or anyone knows a farmer or rancher there - tell them to plant milk weed thistle | ------------------------
