Hey David, you beat me to it! I was about to post about this eclipse, in case there are any early risers tomorrow morning. The partially-eclipsed phase begins around 4:15AM La Manz time, then the brief period of totality begins around 5:55AM La Manz time. The moon is only supposed to be totally-eclipsed by the earth for 5-10 minutes. Then the moon, partially-eclipsed again, sets at 6:56AM, about the same time as sunrise. It should be an interesting sight in the west as the sky slowly begins to lighten around 5:45AM while the moon gets more and more shadowed, fully enters the Earth's shadow, then comes back out leading up to moonset in the ocean. Clouds permitting of course! In the timing chart in the following link, we are in the "MDT" (Mountain Daylight Time) column, which is the same as Central Standard Time (our current time zone here in Mexico.) And then don't forget on this Sunday at 2:00AM, we spring forward to CDT and rejoin the US in this insane clock-tweaking... http://www.skyandtelescope.com/astronomy-news/observing-news/preview-of-april-4ths-total-lunar-eclipse-033020152/ | ------------------------Re: Total Lunar Eclipse Tonight

Bret, Daniel, I am definitely not a swiftie when it comes to this so perhaps you can tell me--just in case I'd be silly enough to do so--would it be worthwhile to go to the beach (let's say the sky IS clear) for those two hours, 4:15-6:15 or so. As nearly as I can figure out, the western sky is the place to observe. Correcto? | ------------------------
