English keyboard

Does anyone have one I can buy or borrow, or know where I can get one? Or know how I can find backslash, underscore and brackets on my Spanish one? Any of the websites I've googled for this info have been incredibly complicated...but maybe there is an easy one somewhere, like a chart that I haven't found. Did you know there are Latin American Spanish keyboards, as well as other types of Spanish keyboards? Any help will be appreciated! | ------------------------Re: English keyboard

Carol, when I was still working (in the computer business), I found that there was more than 60 different keyboards: french, french canadian, swiss french and swiss german, german, etc etc . If you have an Apple Macintosh, it will be easy to switch between keyboards. If you have a PC, I can't help you. Good luck. It's usually just a question of hitting the right key sequence. Regards, Michel

Thanks, Michel, I have a PC, and the keyboard shorted out a week after I got here. So I have been using an external, as the replacement internal one still has not arrived, though Felipe ordered it 4 months ago! i guess a few keyboards would be a good thing to bring down next year...since they seem to short out quite regularly. I also have been hearing about people having lots of computers, phones, etc. in their homes up in Canada and the States, as those people get the latest 'generation' of each model. I think Daniel or Felipe could 'clean them up' and they would be well used down here, even if they are a few years old. I just got an email from Dave, who tells me there are 60 kinds of keyboards- who knew? and he sent me a kind of chart that shows, I think, how to convert one type to another - thanks, Dave! It seems like too much of a learning curve for me right now, considering I am leaving in 3 weeks, so...still looking for an English one to borrow. | ------------------------Re: English keyboard

At an internet cafe in Melaque, someone working there can probably help you. Is there an internet cafe in La Manzanilla? | ------------------------Re: English keyboard

Thanks, Maria, that's a good idea - and we do have a few ciber cafes here...I can just take in my computer and keyboard there. By the way, I have discovered how to do brackets. - and even found a ~ (tilde), which is pretty important for typing the nyah sound in Spanish, but is not produced by hitting the N with a ~ on top pf it key that is on the keyboard. That one will give you either : or ; Maybe it's time for me to get back to my studio , or the beach. | ------------------------Re: English keyboard

Carol, you inspired me to finally figure out how to use the tilde on a Mac keyboard: Put your cursor where you want the tilde, hold down the option key and type an n, and then let off the option key and type an n again. Muy facile! | ------------------------Re: English keyboard

Oh, that's great, Jeanne, I will try it when I get an English Keyboard again. Sparks, was your explanation for an English keyboard? Mine is Spanish. They do say all this extra learning is good for the brain cells. | ------------------------Re: English keyboard
