Tropical weather outlook

Hello sports fans, it's just about that time of year again! I'm trying to keep an eye on the weather down there while I get done with some more things up here in Arizona. I'll be off-line about half the time before getting back down there in mid-June (hopefully.) So don't rely only on my reports because they may be intermittent. Regarding rain reporting: I'm coming back with another rain gauge, but it would be great if someone down there could keep a bucket or jar outside to measure daily accumulation until I can take over. On to the weather news: For the first time this season a couple of Invests are developing far down to the south, one of which might travel along the usual storm track parallel to the Mexican coastline in the next few days. NHC 5-day graphical outlook: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=epac&fdays=5 (description of the Invest closer to the coast "An area of low pressure is expected to form several hundred miles south of the coast of Mexico in a couple of days. Environmental conditions appear to be conducive for gradual development of the system by mid-week while it moves west-northwestward to northwestward. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent" The Weather Underground (for Manzanillo airport) agrees with the development of this system and predicts significant chances of rain starting Thursday: http://www.wunderground.com/weather-forecast/zmw:00000.1.76653? Hopefully this system stays offshore, but remember that the first few systems of the season sometimes take a right turn and threaten parts of the coastline. Keep an eye out!

Not much change in the forecast: still looks like a few days of not too heavy rains starting Thursday or Friday. Weather Underground Manzanillo forecast (sometimes they forecast more rain than actually happens, but you can tell SOMETHING is coming): http://www.wunderground.com/weather-forecast/zmw:00000.1.76653?&MR=1 NHC is still forecasting a tropical cyclone down south of La Manzanilla in the next few days. The probability is now up to 80%: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=epac&fdays=5 "1. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms located several hundred miles south of the coast of Mexico are associated with a trough of low pressure. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system during the next several days, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this week while the system moves slowly west-northwestward to northwestward. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent" I'll be off-line until Saturday. Enjoy the change in weather (hopefully you will get at least a little cool-down!) | ------------------------Re: Tropical weather outlook

Hey Bret, it's Wednesday and the sky is a weird color. The light is kind of orangey. Tornadoes on the way? jk Thanks for keeping an eye on La Manzanilla, pun intended.
