Goodness. NOOOOOBody. Kind of nice in a way. Savour that because you might not see it again for a bit. Little bit Jealous as we battled traffic today to get from A to B. Happy packing. Enjoying Daniels WebCam everynight. Great pics. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

Thanks for all the photos Pat. I shall miss them. I look everyday from England.

I love the lonely summers, warm water and exciting storms. Especially the lightning storms... | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

I am savouring the "empty" pictures because Toronto is about to have 350,000 visitors for the PanAm games. I am volunteering so wil be in the thick of the crush!! | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

More and more Canadians I hear from are saying they are done with Mexico - prices, instability, gouging on accommodation have begun to cause people to look at Palm Springs, Hawaii.

Cost of extra health insurance alone would make it unaffordable for us if we could get it at all in both places. Food in Hawaii is very very expensive as is accommodation unless u are way out someplace I guess. Palm Springs is so totally different from Mexico. Have not stayed there so can,t comment on prices. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

This is just a seasonal emptiness due to the intense heat and humidity, along with powerful storms, that always come at this time of year. And when the foreigners leave, there is not enough work for many of the locals. So they go elsewhere for employment—until the good weather returns in November and the village is bustling again. This is a very normal cycle for La Manzanilla. Nothing more. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

I love it just the way it is! There are many wonderful people who live here all year long and always have! | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

I agree. The quality of life here in La Manz doesn't depend on where the snow birds choose to spend their winters. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

Palm Springs? Hawaii? Get real! Most of us come to La Manzanilla because we don't want the cultureless Palm Springs experience. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

Here, here, Larry!!! Well said, sir. The La Manz. crowd/scene is so far removed from the rich tourist meccas of Palm Springs or Hawaii. To even think of going to those places gives me the heebie jeebies. Hell, I couldn't afford them even if I wanted to go there (and I don't!!! Ewwww...). Obviously Geoff, you're listening to a very different crowd of people, those who are supposedly "done with Mexico". To those people, a very friendly adios - don't think we'll miss you... Oh and great photos you post, Pat! Love 'em all... | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

Larry Well said, and for what it is worth, having ones holiday in Mexico is still cheaper than the USA (Palm Springs or Hawaii); and for all the Canadians that I know that are regular Mexico visitors, none feel the way Geoff J does, so I am not sure who he is speaking to. Matter of fact, more and more people appear to be interested in visiting our area and especially LM. I think it still has a lot of appeal to everyone including families with small kids. I think Geoff is expressing a very minority opinion and it is his, funny enough, if you don't want to go, then don't go; it leaves more room for the rest of the world. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

Sure do miss this place! Its just part of the seasonality of it all. We are at the cottage, place is bustling for June July and August, and pretty much a ghost lake the rest of the year too. The people that are complaining about Mexico are not the same market of people as us. Enjoy your summers everyone. | ------------------------Re: Our town is downright empty

I hope everyone noticed how clean and green the town looks. It's beautiful this time of year. | ------------------------
