the availability of emergent cardiac care
Posted by Bonnie on September 1, 2015, 1:36 pm
We will be visiting La Manz for the first time in March 2016. If I should need emergent services for my cardiac issues, is there care fairly close? Knowing whom to contact & how far I would be from obtaining treatment would help a lot to ease my mind about this. Thanks in advance for any info those who live in the area or visit often may have. | ------------------------Re: the availability of emergent cardiac care

Maybe you would be more comfortable in Vallarta lots of care there. | ------------------------Re: the availability of emergent cardiac care

While we were there with a group this past February, one of our group stumbled in the street, fell, and required 50+ stitches in a knee he had just recovered from replacement 3 months prior. There is a wonderful doctor in town, who runs the farmacia in town, who made house calls to check on him; he went in to a bit of shock afterwards and required some close monitoring. That being said, there are no cardiac care facilities close by. Other Americans I have talked to here in the states who who spend a lot of time in Mexico have paid for some type of insurance, which would be beneficial should a person require being air ambulanced out. PS Can't wait to come back. February can't get here soon enough. | ------------------------Thanks Bob & Sharon

So it sounds like PV would be the closest city for cardio care, but we are still sold on staying in La Manz. We have waited too long to visit this area as it is! As long as I'm aware of where & how to get care, I'm sure I'll be more than content in La Manz. We have traveled other areas in Mexico over the past 10+ years, and know to take advantage of the travel insurance with emergency evac. Apparently, there is an excellent doc in town as well, so color me "relieved" and eager to be there in Marzo! Thanks again to you both for the responses. | ------------------------Re: Thanks Bob & Sharon

My husband and I spend seven months of the year in La Manz and also have cardiac concerns. Our cardiologist, who, as far as we know is the closest, is Dr Martin Toscano Ramirez in Manzanillo and we can highly recommend him; he also speaks English. His astute diagnosis probably saved my life almost three years ago. Email me if you need his address and phone number. Our family doctor in Obregon, close to Melaque, also comes well recommended. | ------------------------Re: Thanks Bob & Sharon

This a message for maedb from this thread. Could he email me the name of the family doctor he mentions, and hopefully a phone number? Much appreciated. | ------------------------Re: Thanks Bob & Sharon
