Hey Bonnie,
Joe was in LAManz in Aug and picked up this virus. He is three months with it, and is just now beginning to be pain free. There seems to be nothing to do once you get it, Advil for the pain, and rest. He has found that if you exert yourself you will feel extra discomfort in that part of your body. That is, swimming really hurt his shoulders, playing golf got his shoulders and feet...etc. it is a virus carried by day time mosquitos, so bug repellant is important. Our entire family will be with us for Xmas, including a new born, so we are preparing with a supply of bug repellant and warnings to everyone. This is much the same as past break outs of dengue fever, it is the tropics, and this stuff happens.
On a positive note, unlike dengue, it appears you can only get this one time....then you have an immunity.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
