In El Horno del Catrin
For friends who insist on knowing that I survived and where I am, I arrived last week in La Manzanilla and am in the beach row of the above campground. Contrary to our fear thoughts La Manzanilla is fully open for the season, stores, hotels everything. Our campground is fully functional with all services just like we left it last year. Some, but not all others, are up as well. Carmen and Fausto have done a great job. The laguna is up so access is by way of Boca de Iguanas
About the journey: it all seemed about normal for Mexico. I went from Nogales on Highway 15D almost to Tepic, Then cut down to the coast, then to Las Varas, Puerto Vallarta and La Manzanilla.
Northern Sonora highways were very good then construction of the new concrete highway caused many detours but mostly we ran 50-55 mph, not too bad. In Sinaloa we took the toll roads with no problems except that it took 3 hours from Culiacan to Mazatlan. The highway from Las Varas south to PV was a lot better than previous years. And big improvements from El Tuito to La Manzanilla.
Plenty of space here, in the campground as well as hotels,
See you when you get here,
Lou.
