La Manzanilla now has it's own immigration lawyer, Margarita Schiffmacher. I would give her a call at 351-7295. She and her husband, Siegfried, live on Calle Playa Dorada half a block toward the center of town from Calle Punta Tiopa. There is a sign for A 1 Legal Services or something like that. After you speak with her, if you want a second opinion, call Spencer McMullen in Chapala. Spencer is an American who is now a Mexican citizen and who has a Mexican law degree. He is very knowledgeable. You could probably pay him by credit card and deal with him over the phone, on line or by e-mail. His number is 331-556-0828 cell or office phone at 376-765-7553. (There are no long distance charges in Mexico anymore, so the call is free.) If you are the one whose visa has expired, it would be a good idea to get real legal advice as to how to deal with it from an expert or two. Obviously, this has happened to many many people in the past and there is a way to handle it properly without putting yourself at risk with Inmigracion.
