Canadian $ donation link

Pablo/Danial All this paypal link does is convert canadian $ to US$ Surely we want the conversion to be to Pesos Or to stay as Cdn $ so you could send a single or several wire transfers to Mexico (for a $20 wire fee) . I think we were trying to avoid the intermediate step of converting to US$ and then to Pesos. Thanks for all your efforts, Wendy | ------------------------Re: Canadian $ donation link

On the new Pink - Donation Links Here - the Canadian PayPal amount you enter is stated in US$$ not Canadian$$. This would seem to indicate there are two (therefore slightly more costly) $$ exchanges taking place for Canadian pledges C$ -> US$ -> MXN Peso instead of direct from C$ -> MXN Peso The money is for a great cause, but be aware that for every US$100 you donate, approx. C$135 will be coming out of your Canadian account, due to current exchange rates! US$75 is approximately equal to C$100 at current rates. Please donate what you can. | ------------------------Re: Canadian $ donation link

Thanks Rob and Wendy for your observations. This glitch was noticed only after Daniel posted the link earlier in the day yesterday. I set it up to be for CAD donations but for some inexplicable reason, even when I pasted the link on the board in a post (as I tried), the page comes up in USD format - just weird. Anyways Lisa and I are hoping big D. will solve this issue by today (if he's not dealing with his own water issues). I responded about this problem as well in the "Important Info...etc." string. June is also aware of the issue and may be able to offer some insight. Anyway, please look for answers in that string in future. Now if anyone can't wait and really wants to send money in Canadian funds right away, click the white envelope above and I'll email you the link. Rob, Wendy... I'm sure you may have already read elsewhere on the board that the glitch with the Canadian donations showing up with USD format is now solved (big kudos to June Nery and Daniel) and the correct link is now on the donations page. Again thank you both for pointing out the issue and for your shared concern that donations freely flow as quickly as possible. Even more need now with all the rain and flooding lately. Rob, as the common saying on the caribbean side of Costa Rica goes: "Right you boy"! Can't tell you how relieved to have the link problem solved. Pues, un chingón de "de nadas"... Have been emailing with Alison lately and understand you'll both be down there within 2-3 weeks. Sorry about your casa, dude (Alison sent a pile of photos) and loss of the that huge tempisque tree. See you in Feb. - I've told Alison we'll get together por una comida at our rental (if we still have one!!). All the best with your clean-up and repairs when you get there...

Hi Pablo. You've got the wrong Rob L. in mind on these threads! While my wife, Karen, and I have been coming down and enjoying all that La Manz and area has to offer for about 10 years, we don't yet have a Casa, and have no near relations named Alison! Thanks for your efforts, and Daniel's (and anyone else), in getting the Canadian and other donation links to work. I hope donations continue to roll in and we get the occasional update as to how it is all working out. We will be there in about a month, and will help where we can. Maybe I will meet my alter ego or perhaps already know him!!.... Rob L. (Lindsay) | ------------------------Re: Canadian $ donation link

Oopsie.. My bad, Mr. Lindsay. It's Robbie aka Roberino or Robert Boyes that I got you mixed up with. I have equal trouble keeping track of all the Dave's in town. As for donations update, I earlier emailed Lisa to request that she post promptly on how the Canadian and US donation accounts are doing. Tomorrow I'll be wiring down to Paul Zuñiga and the team all the Canadian link donations that I've collected to date. And thanks Rob & Karen for you contribution. Not a problem Pablo! I know of the character you refer to! So many Daves & Robs and others in La Manz helping out in various ways. Viva La Manzanilla! | ------------------------
