Another way to look at helping

Remember that many of the needed items can be bought in Mexico at our local stores. Maybe not in La Manz right now , but soon they will be there to buy. If you buy locally it then put money right back into the community. Think before you pack-Can I buy this down there? It might be a little bit more expensive , but it helps the people you are trying to help.

I like the way you guys think. Instead of picking up the supplies in WallMart I will buy in LM. My only worry is that the stores may not have enough to sell. I guess I will find out. Can't wait to be there tomorrow. H | ------------------------Re: Another way to look at helping

Hello Heidi and others wanting to purchase school supplies, I just spoke with the owners of La Estrella Papeleria here in La Manzanilla about this issue. they said they would be happy to place a large order that would be delivered to the store. Enrique of Lydia's is also part of Viva La Manzanilla and has been helping with some emergency food deliveries. So looks like visitors who want to help in this way can easily BUY LOCAL! Hope this is helpful info. | ------------------------Re: Another way to look at helping

I'm sure josito or el pollo can order many things that are needed for construction. BUY LOCAL is a great and never overused motto! | ------------------------Re: Another way to look at helping

Okay, but please, there are many of us that heard the varied cries and went out and got the goods, not knowing the status of anything. Forgive us. Normally, we always shop local and think global. See you soon, Jon and Arleen | ------------------------Re: Another way to look at helping

That's ok Arleen, but in the future and for those just starting to pack to come down, buy when you get here. There's plenty of things you can buy locally to help the local economy.
