Trees and Plastic Burning
Posted by Debbie W on November 9, 2015, 10:24 am
As you all know, most of the trees and big trash seem to have be taken to the quarry. If you do not know where that is, it is to the South of the Center de Salud. Normally this is burned but this time that could be very bad, as it is full of plastic. The poisons they produce when ignited will cause many problems for those who breathe them. Does anyone know if they will be removing most of the plastic before the big burn off? or will they be taking all of this to the real dump??

Ouch, burning plastic again, and the organic matter - it seems so wasteful, burning or dumping all those trees and branches; how much does a heavy duty chipper cost? Are they available, and are they used in Mexico? Just wondering... | ------------------------Re: Trees and Plastic Burning

Oh, how we have been dreaming of that beautiful chipper!!! There isn't one here, I am told that they are very expensive. Maybe someone can fit one in their suitcase or "oversized baggage"? Some of the tree workers in LM have seen the need for a long time. After being chipped, Much of the organic "basura" would be reduced to mulch, which could be sold as a product perhaps. From what I can see is everything mixed together, and then hauled off to the dump or left in piles for now. I am making some inquiries about milling up and using for lumber some of the biggest, nicest trees that came down entirely. Maybe someone from the expat community arriving this winter would like to take on these projects. Thanks for your observations! Lisa

These are mostly entire tree trunks and branches, I do not believe a chipper will work. If they are to burn these very large piles which are about as large as three football fields, the plastic would be better removed as much as possible and taken to the dump. The quarry is not the dump, what will the circus do when it comes to town? | ------------------------
