Everyone has a story!

And here is mine for this day! As I was on my way to Melaque today on the bus, a young neighbor who used to live in the hood sat down next to me at my urging. I knew she was having some trouble in the summer but she never really told me what was happening. But today she let loose....seems her husband has gotten into drugs and is now back drinking as well. She has moved into her unfinished house with three children under 11 and was hit hard by the hurricane and is now going through a divorce. And then she cried! My thought was... time to put out a jar to see if she can alleviate some stress while she goes through this period. So if you can, please stop by the bookstore, and donate a bit, anything will help this family! Tis the season of giving. Thank you!

I am not sure who is handling the tickets for Juan...or if they are in yet as I have not been to the bookstore since he and I talked on Monday! But I will find out and post when I have news. As for the donation jars....we are really focused on spending our funds from selling books on the students we sponsor and so that sometimes does not leave us much to help others as we did in the past...so I think the jars can help us out and in turn we can help others. Thanks for your response Linda! | ------------------------Re: Everyone has a story!

Aby dropped by the bookstore yesterday with a sheet of paper with numbers 26-50 on it. People can pick a number for 30 pesos (or multiple numbers) and enter their name and contact info (e-mail address or phone#). Also, they can indicate whether they want to donate the tablet back to the cause in case they win it. They will need to remember their number(s) or write them down, as there are no tickets in this raffle. Aby also said she would be leaving two other sheets around town, at Magnolia's and another site (sorry, I forgot which one). Hope this helps. | ------------------------Re: Everyone has a story!

Thanks Saralyn for this info! I believe Juan said he would have the tickets or sheets at Palapa Joes as well! | ------------------------
