For all the fans out there who have been asking if baseball is still being played, the answer is a resounding YES! (It's just the co-ordinator whose been too lazy to write the post game reports)
The season began in November, thanks to John and Scottie who were here to "get the ball rollin'".
Unfortunately, our Senior Division has dwindled away, due to school, work, and of course--members of the opposite sex--damn hormones. Several of the former members still come out from time to time and help mentor our juniors, and it is always a pleasure to see what fine young adults they have become.
Our Junior League is thriving, with anywhere from 18 to 25 boys and girls coming out on a Friday evening. We just started the 2nd half of our season this past Friday night with an amazing game.
These youngsters range between the ages of 8-12, many of which are first year players and their progress is marvelous to watch. As you know baseball is a game that requires the players to think on their feet, to anticipate where the ball should be played, and to follow through. We coaches are seeing this skill growing in each one of our players. As far as batting goes, each player swings with determination and connects more times than not.
So why not come out to the soccer field on a Friday at 5pm and cheer them on?!!! They love an audience and will play even more enthusiastically. It will a fun filled hour in your day.
