We start at 7:30. Gail Weiss will be our Tax Collecting Agent. At the second table, Melody Sayre, Our Registration Technician, will sign up the Storytellers and give out a lottery number to every audience member not signed up to tell a story.
Donna and Bret Bulger will be our Timekeeper and Scorekeeper respectively. We'll get them set up.
Next, we will pick five numbers from a hat and seat our five audience Judges with tablets and Magic Markers.
I will talk a little about the history of Story Slams and outline this event(the stories should be genuine, the theme is The Unusual, the time limit is 5 minutes with a 30-second grace period) Then I will tell two stories, one ad-lib, and the other with notes. This is called calibrating, to give the Judges, Timekeeper, Scorekeeper, and the audience, a chance to warm to the evening.(And you might want to bring something extra to wear if it is cold outside).
We currently have 11 Storytellers. Different audience members will pick a name from a hat one at a time to decide the order. If we have more than 12 Storytellers, someone may not read, but depending on time, the audience will vote on where we want to draw the final line.
Last, we will ask Donna and Bret for the final results, and award five prizes. Then we will say goodnight. Ron
