The guidelines:
No penalty for under five minutes. Five minutes to tell a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Next comes a 30-second grace period. After 5:30, one point will be deducted every 10 seconds from your score. One point deducted if you read or use notes.
Stories are judged on content and presentation. Five judges will be picked randomly from the audience, and like diving or gymnastics, scores range from 0 to 10. The top and bottom scores are thrown out, so a 6,7,7,7,8, with the 6 and 8 thrown out, would be a total score of 21, before time or note penalties are assessed. This might not be your thing if you don't enjoy a little friendly competition.
The event is on Monday, February 29th, from 7:30 to 9:30, at Casa Luz, with five prizes. You sign up to tell your story at the door. Only twelve will tell their story. If we have more than twelve who sign up, storytellers have priority over story readers, and story readers have priority over past prize winners. After that, if we still have more than 12 storytellers, only 12 names will be picked from a hat. The story should be true and original, and the theme is “Risk”, but loosely translated.
Thanks, Ron
