"Exchange profit????"
You can take the question marks off of that.
A business that pays its bills in pesos with prices in USD is profiting
in a big way. Their cost remain fixed yet the dollars to pesos goes
up. Anyone paying in dollars is not encouraged (profiting) by the change
but someone is.
If the bills e.g. employee wages were pegged to the exchange rate inflation
would happen big time (in the current situation) which is why the gov
stopped it (link).
There is no response from property managers, rentalers or La Catalina
on this thread defending the USD pricing because the position very difficult
to defend. And truth be told, one that I never really thought about before
this thread. It's not just about pricing in USD or someone secretly profiting
it's also about the stability of the peso and the (local) economy.
With the exchange rate what it is Mexico should be packed with tourist and business,
that is the plus side of the devaluation.
Charley has a valid point(s).
