I'm in Cambodia right now. They face much the same devaluation as Mexico. One thing that helps the local hired help is to pay in USD which they stuff in their mattresses or whatever as a hedge and safety net. It isn't always so clear who benefits and who doesn't when paying in USD. Here, all rentals are always posted in USD otherwise the lag between booking and occupation means a currency loss. what is good for the expats is not always good for the locals.
