I have read your various posts on the English/Spanish & US Dollar/Peso issues with interest.
One of the things that I enjoy about La Manz is that we, the visitors, deliberately attempt to have a positive input on the village. I find that very refreshing and, I participate in the process.
There are transgressions, errors -- so be it, we are not angels. The process is "a foot".
For those who rent out their casas in US dollars, likely that is the currency which is required to service the borrowings for the property -- and certainly, those costs would be significantly greater than the local maintenance costs incurred on their casa. (If, the owner of a casa has taken out a mortgage on their US property to "buy" their La Manz property, their borrowing costs do not decrease because the CDN dollar and Mexican peso have depreciated against the US dollar -- especially, since a mortgage can not be assigned to a property in La Manz that does not have title.)
The US dollar has, in a short period of time, dramatically appreciated against the Mexican peso and the CDN dollar. To demonize people because the US dollar rental rates they posted did not immediately reflect a 25% appreciation of the US dollar in a given year -- is self serving. I do not recall anyone complaining about the 25% depreciation of the US dollar that occurred during 2008 - 2011 against the CDN dollar and Mexican peso. Ultimately, it will be a supply/demand equilibrium that will determine the cost of vacation rentals in La Manz -- regardless of the currency posted.
