The La Manzanilla spay and neuter project is going strong as we enter the final phase. According to previous records, 47 animals have already been sterilized. Currently we have a list of 27 more animals needing service, and we have set a goal to complete 40 more spays or neuters.
We are exploring a number of options to cut costs as much as possible while maintaining quality care. Ten small animals are set to go to the vet in Barra on March 14, and we hope to schedule another day this month to do 10 more. We will continue to transport animals to Melaque as well. We are working at expanding our list of animals at this time. If you know of any dogs or cats in need of service, please notify me at 351-5096 or Lisa at 351-5047, or click on the white box above.
We are also in need of carriers, particularly small ones. If you have a carrier to lend, please let us know. Additionally, we are looking for drivers who are willing to transport animals to and from Melaque and Barra. Some drivers volunteered after the fundraiser, but we need to update that list.
Finally, Rocio will be here the week of Semana Santa. While she is not equipped to do spays and neuters for the project, she will be offering some surgical services, dental cleaning, consultation, grooming and some medications.
That’s all we have to report at this time, but at the end of the project (we’re trying to wind up by the end of March) we’ll post one final report with a summary of our expenditures. Thank you for your interest and your continued support!
