If the longliner, Blue Marlin impact is brought into check there will be a very bright future for Blue Marlin. As I pointed out, the evolution of catch and release of Billfish by sport fisherman has already made great strides. Enough so that someone deciding to take a Blue Marlin and making sure it is used for food is not the problem anymore. So in expressing concerns, it is good to have perspective.
United States Longliners do not even bring Blue Marlin back to port due to regulations against that. They are dead by the time they catch them so all of them go to waste.
