I have 4 extra litter grabbers and buckets available and would love it if anyone wants to help on the beach this week. Email me for details, or look for me on the beach around 5:30 pm each day (through next Sunday). People can do litter patrol at their own preferred time.
During this 2-week Easter holiday, I start working the tide line area in front of Rincon's restaurant, head south to Bahia Azul restaurant (some days as far south as Cato's restaurant), return north up to Fiesta Mexicana, and then back south to Rincon's. I do as much as I can before it gets dark. How far I get depends on the volume.
Before Semana Santa, I cleaned the beach between Pedro's and Don Raul's. It was completely litter-free.
Since then, I have picked up around 165 gallons of garbage plus 130 soft drink plastic bottles. Most people, but alas not all, clean their occupied area if they are not at a restaurant or rented tables. Many, but alas not all, restaurants and table rentals clean after their tables are vacated. Some wait until the next morning to rake it up. So, I try to clean those vacated tables if I think the tide might reach the garbage before the morning.
Next week, I will return to my usual routine of 2 hours at daybreak, 4-days a week. One of these days, I hope to get as far north on the beach as the last campground south of the destroyed hotel. I do litter patrol on the streets when the beach is clean.
