Have friends coming from Canada--first time visitors to Mexico. I'd like to take them to Colima, not sure I want to drive "Frankentruck". Anyone know about taking a bus--fare??
Also, are there "budget" hotels?
Best sites to see while there?
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Hi Patti, if you are interested in archeological sites, there are two right in the city - La Campana and el Chanal. We just visited them for the first time in December and were very impressed. They are near the Institute of Technology. Happy to give you directions if you email me. Fantastic views of the volcano at la campana. We also enjoyed the nearby town of Comala.

Dear Patti,
Chuck and I took the bus from La Manzanilla into Barra de Navidad, which dropped us off about a block and a half from the ETN station. That was - 15 pesos? Then took the ETN bus to Colima, which I believe was under 300 pesos. We stayed at a wonderful AirBnB there, I believe it was priced in American. The owner, Monserrat, is a family physician and artist, and she has 2 rooms to let out, one has a queen sized bed that is usually inhabited by a multi-month tenant, the other has 2 twin beds and a private bathroom. Very inexpensive, clean, and the owner is just so kind. She speaks very good English and is so lovely! Here is the link to her place. It was in a very safe neighborhood. A taxi to Camala was about 2 blocks away, and the fare extremely reasonable.
