1. Bring down enough COMPOSTIBLE* garbage bags, large and small size to last the season;
2. Bring down our commuter cups to use instead of the plastic cups offered by vendors of tacos, etc.
3. Take our compost directly to the Huerta Escolar (school garden) or use the bags the 'basura' crew will provide next year. (Can also give it to the folks who raise pigs if you are on their route.)
4. Bring down two or three more cloth shopping bags.
5. In the event we might have some dinner to carry home from a restaurant, we'll take one of our own containers with us.
6. Buy organic veggies from the school garden or anyone else who grows them in our district.
7. Support growers of organic coffee (e.g. Cuzalapa- EL Color del Tierra collective)
Any other ideas? Want to join in? According to Sheli, our Registra for La Huerta, the municipio will be providing three cloth shopping bags for each household in the near future. Several people working in the abarotes are already aware of the danger to the fishing industry that plastic in the ocean has created. They see me coming and go..."No bolsa, si?"
