Fatality from Spay and Neuter Phase 2 in Barra

After I left in early March, the Spay and Neuter Phase 2 was continued by Lisa and Jeanne. Most of these animals were taken to Barra in large batches. Today one of those cats had such a massive infection that it had to be put down. A small dog with a similar infection is also being operated on. I feel very sad that this tragedy has happened. The only complications that occurred with the animals I took were followed up with and I checked on twice daily with antibiotic injections. A couple of times I made extra trips to have them checked again. There were no fatalies or animals lost (as sadly the cat from Activo gym was lost in Barra). This is exactly why I was against the mass spaying as there were too many risks and unknowns. I could never have the heart to tell a pet owner that they had died which is precisely why I took about 60 dogs and cats to Beto this year. I have known and respected him for a dozen years and he is my vet of choice and the only one I would use (other than Cisco's vets and Rocio). My motto is no deaths!
