Plenty of fishing from the beach here. No lagoon. There is a mangrove swamp behind the beach but it is protected, No Fishing at all. I see a few fly fisherman walking down thew beach most every day. The past couple of years a neighbor in our campground has been out with his fly rod every day and I think never goes fishless. He has an ideal spot wheere he can sit under his palapa and watch for feeding activity. I don't know what weight rod he uses. I leave my fly rods for small stream trout in the spring and summer up north. I occasionally fish a spinning rod from the beach. !5 lb line is an absolute minimum. The most common catch is the small jack. 10-15 lb is common and sometimes larger so at times I would have to play the fish carefully. Sometimes a roosterfish, less often needlefish and rarely snook. Sierra too. Some days the surf may get a little heavy especially after noon. The fish come in close enough that you just wade in as far as you can, 50 feet or less, and make fairly short casts. I don't see double hauling at all. Bottom is sometimes rocky and maybe other sharp stuff so wear some old tennis shoes. The surf will smack you so have your sunglasses tightly strapped on. Spincasters would usually use 25 lb line. I have one lighter spin rod with 15 lb but 25 is safer. How does that equate to a fly rod? Sorry I don't have better info. Don't know much about lures either but what I have seen are small white streamers. Buena suerte, Lou
