We had a strange cluster of earthquakes last night well offshore. Did anyone feel them? Donna and I didn't. 3 of them were right on top of one another between the two fault lines, with the 10:31pm one a fair bit closer to us. Here's the sequence:
7:18pm: magnitude 5.5, 118km SW of San Patricio (Melaque)
It's interesting that yesterday morning was the annual Jalisco-wide Civil Protection tsunami evacuation drill. I don't know if anyone did anything here in La Manz. Certainly the warning tower in the Jardin hasn't been exercised in years. I wouldn't recommending waiting for instructions from it during an actual event...
Hope that's it for now...

My "earthwatch" update stated there were a cluster of tremors near Mt. Saint Helens yesterday as well! Hopefully just releasing some energy and not the BIG ---!
Thanks for checking the Mexican earthquake site, Jane. On that site I count 21 quakes in the same area between the two fault lines offshore. The Mag. 5.5 (or 5.6 per the Mexican site) was the first, then the other smaller ones happened from then until the latest one at 7:10am today. So about a 12 hour span.
(The Mexican site doesn't usually post quakes below 3.0, and the USGS doesn't post less than 4.0 outside the US.)
A very unusual quake cluster for our area. Fortunately these were all fairly minor and quite a distance from any towns.
Check out the map on the Mexican site; it looks like someone was taking target practice on that unfortunate spot on the sea bed: ("Whoa-whoa-whoa, good shoot'n, Tex!")
