I am just forwarding a copy of a letter sent to one of my family members that own property in Musica del Mar development in Isla de Navidad.
Hello everyone
In Musica del Mar, there are several homes and lots for sale. Some are listed with Real Estate Agents and some through Kijiji and other web sites.
An owner has contacted the Board with their bad experience and wishes to share with all of us..
'We got a call about 2 weeks ago from a man by the name of Steven Faraday Stone from California who said he was a retired judge and wanted to purchase our property. After a couple more calls from him he arranged for a lawyer in MX to call us and e mailed us links to show they were legitimate. They also sent a bank draft in our names for the amount we were asking to show the money was waiting in the bank for the completion of the sale. We thought all was going great until yesterday when the so called lawyer phoned and said he required a 'binder' in the amount of $5,000. When we wouldn't go for that they asked for just $2,500 and of course swore it was totally refunded at the end of the deal. The phone number to watch for is 619 399 7945. He never answers it but you leave a message and he calls you back. Anyways, the property is back on the Market.'
In March, a Barra Realtor brought a Mexican fellow around to show him several homes in Musica. In the end, it was all about attempting to get personal banking information when he said he wished to purchase some of the homes. The Realtor is no long in business and has disappeared along with the so called buyer.
Fred Beresford says the ONLY money that transfers in a transaction from buyer to seller is the BUYERS deposit to your account or a Notary or Lawyer you know. That is the only way you know he or she is committed to the deal. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES does a seller give up anything to make a deal happen.

We have some very close friends who run a beachside resort in Melque. Several years ago a similar situation transpired with an ATV. He also asked if he could tour Melaque to look at properties for sale. So, the ATV never came back
