Mondays 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. -- ASANA (the study/practice of the poses) Thursdays 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. -- PRANAYAMA (the study/practice of the breath)
I am a certified Iyengar yoga instructor -- practicing close to 30 years; teaching, perhaps 25. In Iyengar yoga, "Asana brings steadiness, health and lightness of limb ... (which) produces mental equilibrium and prevents fickleness of mind . . . . By practicing them (the poses) one develops agility, balance, endurance and great vitality . . . (and one will) exercise every muscle, nerve and gland in the body . . . . strengthen the respiratory system, soothe the nervous system and reduce craving" -- B.K.S. Iyengar
Prana: "the breath of life" Pranayama: "the science of breath. It is the hub round which the wheel of llife revolves . . . . the extention of breath and its control." BKS To use the words of the American poet Ada Limon, pranayama teaches "what it is to be quiet, and yet still breathing." "If you would foster a calm spirit, first regulate your breathing; for when that is under control, the heart will be at peace; but when breathing is spasmodic, then it will be troubled. Therefore, before attempting anything, first regulate your breathing on (sic) which your temper will be softened, your spirit calmed." -- Kariba Ekken - 17th Centrury mystic
"Where there is Yoga, there is prosperity, success, freedom, and bliss." -- BKS
Cost: $100 (pesos) per class $300 for 4 classes $150 for both classes in the week If this cost is beyond you, please email me personally.
Classes begin Monday, December 5, 2016. Namaste.
