The reason we allow people to read from a piece of paper at StorySlam is to make sure we have enough readers, and, to encourage those folks who are terrified of telling a story from memory. This is not about strictly adhering to the rules, we are already bending the rules in many ways, it is about being as inclusive as possible. This is a small town, after all, with not too many storytellers. To start with, those reading from paper or computer will be penalized two points for doing so.
I am not opposed to limiting the StorySlam to those who do not read, but I am not sure it would be fair to do so at this late date. Perhaps next year? This StorySlam thing in La Manzanilla is a work in progress. Does anyone else have an opinion on this situation? Thanks, Ron 54
