It was like a Garden Party. Lots of fun and lots of sales. Thanks to Melody for providing splendid food and drink, of which I never had time to taste. Too busy. Thanks to Anne, Jane, Alberto, Gail, and all the students for setting things up.
Total sales: $15,400 pesos, of which 70%, $10,780 pesos, went directly to the students. After expenses, $2,260 pesos went to The Dave Sullins Memorial Art Fund and $2,260 pesos to La Catalina Foundation.
And thanks to all with a few pesos in their pockets who came to play and support this, in my opinion, wonderful program.
The moment I remember most is when Bertha, a talented student who always sells well, asked if I would be returning next year? I teased her by pausing, then pretending I was thinking it over, which I cetainly was not, and answered slowly, "Weeeell, Oooookay." Thanks to all again, Ron
p.s. And we have one person who wants to see what the students still have for sale. I will take a photo of the remaining pieces and send them to him for inspection.
The books are now officially closed on the Scholarship Student Art Show.
Final results: Total Sales = $17,300 pesos 70% to students = $12,110 Plus donations and after expenses for food and drinks, $2,545 to Dave Sullins Memorial Art Fund and $2,545 to La Catalina Foundation
I believe, with Alberto's help, a few of the kids will continue to sell the remaining works of Student Art this Friday at the Tianguis
