A woman rode her bike up next to Cafe Del Mar today, leaned over and said ( in Spanish) 'good morning, David'. I didn't recognize her, but said good morning, and she rode off.
A minute later, I realized, 'that's Chayo!'. I rode after her and caught up, and that's when I got the whole story.
Many know Chayo as the lady who sold hot dogs in the jardin on weekends, or on the street in front of her home. She offered many 'home stays' in her rental rooms for people who want to come to La Manz to learn Spanish.
Her three children - Isis, Bryan, and Jenny - are all 'muy educado' and well known around town.
