Humans of La Manzanilla - Adela

Talk to most parents in this pueblito, and they'll tell you they had Adela as a teacher when they were young. They all say she was a wonderful teacher, and she is well-loved in the community.

Adela came here from her home village near Tequila, Jalisco a little over 30 years ago. This was her first job as a maestra; she fell in love with this town and never left.

She tells stories about how small and quiet La Manzanilla was then. In those early days she had only a few students. Now, classes at the Primaria can have up to 50 students.

Adela has been the Director (Principal) of the Primary School here for the last year. She is real asset to the community, and everyone is happy she decided to take on the job.

She has two children: a daughter who works at the resort in Blue Bay, and who is also married to the son of local legend 'Apache'; and a son who has just finished University, and is living here in La Manz.

Here's a photo I took of Adela in her office at the school today. ˇFelicitaciones a esta mujer excepcional!
