The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

This is a repeat post from last year but we have actually "have" a vehicle for the trip this year. Places to stay, routes and the like will be beneficial It appears that Nogales is the place that most people prefer. Has anyone made the crossing at Yuma? Suggestions from "seasoned drivers" again will be greatly appreciated. C U soon... Hasta, Dean & Judy | ------------------------Re: The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

I don't know were you live but i live in Nevada. I was crossing at Nogales but for the last 3 years I have been crossing at Lukeville, AZ. It sure has been a lot faster and less hassle. Going both ways. | ------------------------Re: The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

Yes I'll second and third the Lukeville Az./Sonoyta,Sonora crossing. It's very small and quick and I've never waited more than 5 min. coming or going. You can get your tourist papers right inside. Just pull over after you've entered and go into small office o n the right. Then through Sonoyta, make left in center of town toward Santa Ana, Hiway #2 I think. After about an hour near Pitiquitos on the right is a large concrete building with no signs as of last year, there around the rear you can get your car papers with no lines unless it's around Christmas time. happy trails | ------------------------Re: The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

I've not driven for three years now, but finding Lukeville/Sonoyta was a gift! Now, all I need is to learn to pronounce Sonoyta: Is it "sono EE tah" or "so NYOY tah" or "so nyo EE tah"? Anybody? | ------------------------Re: The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

Found the following on the Adventures in Mexico site. From the border, you will head to the little town of Sonoyta (pronounced So-no-eé-ta). Hope that helps! | ------------------------Re: The drive from Nogales...Suggestions for the trip please

I drive from from Tucson to La Manzanilla every year. I woud be glad to help if I knew what the questions are. Do you have experience driving Mexican Highways? What are you driving? RV, Trailer, Pickup with camper, car, what kind? Are you looking for a three day trip, four, more? Where do you plan to stay at night, hotel, trailer park, campground, what? Planning to eat in restaurants or self contained or what? Do you understand thoroughly the customs requirements crossing the border? When do you plan to go? I can do this off-line if you wish.
