We will recall some of his life by sharing some of 'Tivo's' favorite foods, including coffee, atole, chile beans, granola and some of his desserts. He also loved plants and music as a guitarist and trumpet player.
Also we will exhibit a couple of his wonderful portraits of New York blacks. These are strong and grabbing as you can feel the sitter's inner strength and life force.
'Tivo' passed last November after a very short illness phase brought on by overwork after Hurricane Patricia. He suffered from renal insufficiency. His long and hard hours of work to help others clean up stimulated the terminal phase of his illness. He was 81.
I have many good memories of my friend but the most impressive is that 'Tivo' respected all life, human, plant or animal, to the point that Tivo would not hurt or kill even a fly, a tick or even a scorpion. Nothing. He lived in peace and appreciation of all and everything with a great sense of humor. I remember his laugh.
May his journey be exquisite and blissful. With much appreciation, Tivo, Cruz
