Right now we are at a glass and a half, one glass equals 3 inches of rain
so I would say about 4 inches of rain so far.
Full glass of rain calculations -
1 - Measure the inside diameter of the glass at the level of the rain. answer - 3 inches
2 - Measure the inside diameter of the glass at the bottom - 1.5 inches
3 - Calculate the average of the two diameters. - 3 + 1.5 = 4.5 divide by 2 = answer - 2.25 inches
4 - Divide by two to find the average radius. - answer - 1.12 inch
5 - Find the average volume of rain = Depth x radius x radius x 3.14.
Answer - 5 x 1.12 x 1.12 x 3.14 = 22.61
6 - Find the area at the top of the bucket (this is the area over which
the rain is collected).
a - Measure the diameter - 3 inches
b - Divide the diameter by 2 to get the radius - answer - 1.5
c - Area = radius x radius x 3.14 - answer - 1.5 x 1.5 x 3.14 = 7.065
7 - Divide the rainfall volume by this area to get the rainfall.
answer - 22.61 divided by 7.06 = 3.2 inches of rain (more or less).370
