The cake contains a little doll of the baby Jesus, and tradition holds that whoever gets the slice with the doll in it will have good fortune for the year. Some Mexicans also have the tradition that whoever finds the baby Jesus in their slice must pay for a feast of tamales on February 2, for the same people who were present on the Day of Kings.
Karla will be selling her cakes (complete with cajeta and nuts) starting on Thursday afternoon, January 5th at her father's Taqueria La Chona, beside Restaurant Arroz y Leche. She will also have them on Friday morning in the tianguis. They are 190 pesos each. Enjoy!
