response to the ride share on the message board. I don't know if other message
boards are doing ride shares but am interested.
Rideshare is fairly new and I could understand the Taxi's initially thinking it
is a negative for their business. As things change (like they always do) they
will come to see it for what it is, a data base of information. They will find
ways to use that information to do business, potentially in a way that
will decrease cost, improve service and increase profits.
One example off the top of my head - Taxi cost from Airport $900 pesos with 4 riders
sharing the cost. Use the database to determine the number of passengers going to
La Manzanilla at a given time and offer a larger vehicle at an increased cost but
lower per passenger than the savings of ridesharing. Now they have one vehicle
doing the work of 4 vehicles, one driver doing the work of 4 drivers. Less cost to
them in labor, gas, maintinance etc. and potentially more profit. Not to mention
more comfort for the passengers (not crammed into a little taxi). Similar to what
is happening with the LM to PV or PV to LM transportation at times, and what is
currently the normal operation for Large Hotels in places like PV.
I don't know how the Hotels get the info on the number of passengers arriving at a
particular time, perhaps only from reservations. If airlines have the info for the final
destination (other than just ZLO) then find a way to access that. Or find a way to tap
into the rentals in La Manz to determine the number of persons arriving?
Data, its all about Data.
